Kitchen Design Diversity

I think I’m fortunate to have a fair amount of diversity in my extended family. As I end my trip to Copenhagen, it occurs to me just how important it is to design kitchens suited to the needs of the users. In my own extended family, I have these diverse personal situations, all of whom work in their kitchens in different ways for different reasons.  Daughter/son-in-law in an apartment in an urban setting, concerned with healthy living and healthy cooking, with demanding jobs, and then, early evening, exercise routines, speed and efficiency in the kitchen being being the goal, and leisurely cooking as recreation,Son, 21, and girlfriend, moving in together soon, who both cook up a storm nearly every night, with a health conscious and multi cultural focus due to their different cultural/ethnic backgrounds and green philosophies, (without a time concern, as I can attest to, having a recent meal with them at nearly 11 pm)A cousin and her (yes, her) wife (legally married in Denmar

TV on DVD: KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL

I just finished rewatching the whole series of KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL, and let me tell you, this show is hilarious. I cannot believe this show was cancelled, I really feel like it wasn’t given enough time to find its audience. I am so sad that there isn’t any episodes left for me to watch. I would definitely recommend watching this TV Show on DVD if you want to spend a few hours of fun. The best episode is probably “French Fight” with a guest appearance by Michael Vartan (Alias) as a French Restaurant owner, I almost peed my pants Some of the great cast include Bradley Cooper (Alias), Owain Yeoman (The Nine), Nicholas Brendon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), John Francis Daley (Freaks and Geeks), and Jaime King (The Class).

The kitchen is the one room that needs to function really well. After all, good food is one of the most basic needs of the family. Kitchen Dreams in Copenhagen!

Oh, to be without the internet! It’s been, what, 6 days, without the use of my computer, which was, let’s say, an interesting experience! I’m glad to say I didn’t freak out about it, I’ve been busy doing wonderful vacation things, here in Copenhagen, visiting with family, and taking so many pictures, it’s just crazy. Yet, I’ve got to say, with my computer now connected, I feel, well, almost giddy! Thanks to Linda for putting in the post I sent to her, and to my friend Peggy from kitchen-exchange, who almost pinch hit a post for me. I can’t put up images just yet, but hope to soon. In the interim, I have learned to type fast on the iphone, as I have been doing since I arrived last week (hold it with the left hand, and type with the second and third fingers)!Copenhagen is always fantastic to see. Just yesterday I started my trek into kitchen showrooms, featuring Scandinavian kitchen manufacturers, and have many more to see. As you might expect, the designs are mostly sleek and hi

Stonewall Kitchen

I totally forgot about writing a post about Stonewall Kitchen, but I got reminded today because I received a catalog from the store. On a recent trip to Maine, we stumbled upon the store and went in to explore. I enjoyed browsing through their wide selection of products and I got the chance to taste test a lot of the items in the store. We bought these: They are all yummy and definitely well worth the price. I really love the Mocha Espresso Sauce because it taste so good as an ice cream topping. I am ordering the Bittersweet Chocolate Sauce to try out a new flavor. Frank’s favorite is the Honey Tarragon Mustard. He thinks he’s not going back to his old favorite well-known brand mustard anymore.Well, let me get going so I can start browsing the catalog and place my order.

Testing Lessons from Kitchen!

John asks: “What is the difference between static testing and dynamic testing?” Rama asks: “What is the difference between verification and validation and how are they related with software testing?” Vikash asks: “In Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), what is V&V (Verification and Validation)? Are they same? If not, how do they differ?” These are few testing FAQs that came to my mind

Chicago Talk of ‘The Dark Knight’ Even Comes Into California Pizza Kitchen

On Thursday night before the flood of leaked images from “The Dark Knight” hit the Internet fan, I was eating dinner at California Pizza Kitchen in downtown Chicago right off Michigan Avenue.I was about to screen “Resurrecting the Champ”. I couldn’t help overhearing a mom with her three kids. The youngest was talking about the Joker like a little boy about to snag his first Nintendo on Christmas.I politely engaged conversation with his mom. It turns out they had just come from a park where they chummed it up with an English gentleman named Mark. He is one of the stuntmen for the Joker. She described him as very kind and loving his job. “The Dark Knight” really is everywhere.
